Every Ribbon. Every Conversation. #EveryVoice.
National Survivors’ Day recognise and commemorate the courage and journeys of Survivors of Sexual Assault and Institutional Abuse, their Supporters, and whistle-blowers.
Survivors carry experiences that are not easily told and wounds that may not be visible. We acknowledge the pain and incredible bravery it takes to rebuild and reclaim one’s life after abuse.
At the National Commission we honour and stand in solidarity with survivors, we recognise your courage and are committed to creating a world that supports hope and empowerment, a future free of abuse and violence.
The National Commission stands with survivors – listening, believing and creating spaces where safety, dignity and healing are possible. Together, we can create a society where abuse is not tolerated, and every survivor is met with the support they need.
For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the impacts of abuse are often compounded by lasting effects of colonization, systemic violence and intergenerational trauma. Yet survivors continue to embody strength, reclaiming their voices and traditions, steadfast in culture and community.
The National Survivors Foundation Casework team is available Monday to Friday on 1300 12 44 33 or hello@survivors.org.au. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 000.
