National Child Protection Week aims to engage, educate and empower Australians to understand the complexity of child abuse and neglect and work together to prevent it.
For over 60,000 years, First Nations peoples have nurtured generations of children through deep connections to community, culture and Country. Today, big changes are needed to re-empower community-led prevention that keeps children safe so they can grow up strong in their identity.
The theme of this year’s National Child Protection Week is “Every conversation matters: Shifting conversation to action”.
Conversations are how we meet people where they’re at and bring them along on big, systemic action. It’s how we encourage them to be brave, to create the wider understanding, buy-in, and momentum that we need to drive our actions forward.
The fact is that systems can’t change without the courage and dedication of the people who work inside them – and change won’t come about unless people really believe in it. Conversations matter because they can unlock that motivation that leads to real action.
